One Family's Story

The Story of Rick and Virginia

How grateful we are. We were a couple who suffered the loss of nine miscarriages, several years of infertility and the thoughts of our future with a family of our own destroyed. Until our prayers were answered by our first birth mom a wonderful girl from another country that seemed so far away in Costa Rica. When the phone rang and suddenly our intermediary told us our birthmom had gone into labor. My heart pounced and did flips out loud. Unfortunately the labor had been Braxton Hicks but we arrived overjoyed to meet our first child’s birthmom. Finally after two weeks of emotions we were blessed with a precious gift from God, our son Ricky. He came to us when he was eight hours old, he was the most beautiful baby a mother could ever see. Today Ricky is an intelligent, well mannered, loving nine year old. And I tell him as often as I can that “ God Danced the Day You were Born!” But, Ricky was lonely and wanted very much to be a big brother and he truly is an awesome one.

Ricky and I had been to a Park one afternoon and I was chatting with a woman and she had mentioned our children and then spoke of her little boy TJ who was adopted from Texas. With that I questioned her and proceeded to really get into information about this ASA agency and why Texas? Well Mary and I spoke for hours the next day on the telephone and she had really good information and high regards for ASA and their staff. So I asked if I can use this information and tell this agency that she referred me and I would like some information.

Within three days my heart was pouncing and flipping all over again. I was so excited to hear such good things about ASA that I could hardly dial the phone number. When I finally dialed I spoke to a woman Linda, who was very pleasant and informative about adoption. I told her that we wanted to adopt and we previously had adopted before and what exactly was necessary for us to do? With that this womans generosity and good wishes were bestowed upon us. She had heard of a long and difficult situation our previous attorney had taken us thru and her sympathy was felt for us .Linda, and ASA staff worked with us like angels were sent from God, to carry us through another adoption.

As we started our paper work and our personal information we had received e-mails of certain adoption situations and cases. Within six months we received a case of a healthy twenty year old birth mom who had considered us as her baby's adopted parents. We spoke for eleven weeks on the phone and then we got the call the evening of August 12th. Our birth mom was to be induced we were called to leave for Texas. We arrived in San Antonio at 10:15 a.m. August 13th just made it to the hospital at 11:30 a.m. met our birth mom and birth dad and Nicholas our second child was born. I was there for the birth and he was as precious as can be! Our son had a beautiful baby brother and I had my gift from God. We had spent a few days in San Antonio, now being a family of four, traveling visiting the River Walk, Shopping in the mall and best of all just enjoying our beautiful baby boy Nicholas.

Nicholas is now a two year old , happy healthy and intelligent little boy and just like his brother is a breath of air for us everyday. These two brothers are inseparable and love each other with all their hearts. So my husband Rick and I have decided that we are still young, healthy and able enough to do this one more time. And we feel these two brothers will love whatever sibling God blesses them with. So ASA will be busy being Angels again.

Thank You, ASA Angels for working so hard to put families together.
